I currently have one of these on order in Amber Fireglo...any comments on this model. Highly unusual and will never be seen again. The original 4005 looked like a stretched out 360, this is the classic 360 WB with a short scale 4003 neck. I can't wait..!

My fireglo one is superb! Low action, fast player, and sounds very similar to the original 4005 basses (I have 4 of those). You will love it, I'm sure!

Thanks for the comment, you're a real 4005 fan. I'm selling my 360 and 4003S to finance this, but this version will never be seen again for a long time if ever. Cheers and Happy New Year..!

Yup....my username here and on the Rick Forum is 4005Player....best bass they made, though their 60's 4001 basses are also great, of course. Any idea when your XC will arrive? Happy New Year to you as well!

It should be delivered later this month or sometime in February. It'll be worth the wait I'm sure. :D

I’m looking for suggestions regarding other strings that have been used aside from those that come on the bass.

Try TI Jazz Flats.

Great…thank you! I actually have an unopened set and will give those a try. I initially put LaBella Flexible Flats on which sound and play wonderful, but I’ve gotta give the TI’s a shot.

I currently have a set on one of my 4004Ls and have used them on several other Ricks over the years, including the '67 4005WB I owned for 38 years. And, on other basses over the years.

Let us know what you think of the TIs.

I put a set of TI’s on my 4005XC. They sound and play great. Just what the doctor ordered. Thanks for the advice! As mentioned previously, I installed a set of LaBella Low Tension Flexible Flats (LTF-4A), which I have on a few of my other basses including a 4003W and a 3001. They also play and sound wonderful, and at about half the price. However, the TI’s have a slight edge that is difficult to describe. I saw your mention of TI’s on a 4004. That is my next string change venture. Thanks for your advice!
