Has everyone moved onto the Facebook page for general Rickenbacker discussion? I mostly see posts about the one off or special run guitars and people saying "HOW MUCH?"

How is Rickenbacker handling the past year with the pandemic?

Since I've been working from home and not going out as much, I bought a lot of pedals in 2020 but a lot of guitars for other companies are out of stock. Some models have even been discontinued. The used market is crazy. Now and then I think about offloading some of my guitars, but my local shop closed in 2016 and people haggle the hell out of prices or don't make commitments. Ironically, Fender apparently sold more instruments last year than ever before.

Strange times.

It seems people have moved to the Ric Resource site for discussion. Apparently some are turned off by the older website format. Who really knows.
I think the RIC corporate office was closed for a while with the factory still working.
Orange County and the rest of California has had a rough time with the pandemic.
I've also noticed that prices for Ricks are higher than ever. Cheers!

I still check in every morning; you never know who you'll run into. ;)

No Facebook for me, so I end up on RickResource most of the time. It's just so much more active than this site nowadays, especially so since JohnHall retired. But, despite this, and so, somewhat paradoxically, this continues to be my default site for technical RIC info.

Just before posting here this morning, I checked to see if the Search function was still messed up; it was pretty much unusable for the longest while. I had to Google something to come up with RIC Forum links. I am very pleased to find that it works well now. This website is a Treasure Trove of "archived" sage advice, much from Mr. Hall himself.

Why has it been so much worse there than in many other parts of the US?

Most likely denser urban and suburban populations. Los Angeles County was one of the worst in the country, then it seemed to spread to the Orange County area.

I've been banned from RicResource twice.

I'm content with my 620/12. I only play it maybe once every couple of months. I had a 360/6 which I traded less than a year after I got it like a goober. My complaints with it were valid, but my approach to playing it was not.

[i]This is great, I just replied to someone's post from 2019 about how long a wait for a Rickenbacker. Hope he's already got one by now!

It just took Sweetwater 4 months to get me my Ric 330 from the date I ordered it, October 6, 2020. Sweetwater did tell me the Rickenbacker factory was working slower with the pandemic which makes sense. Everybody is working with less workers and extra precautions. My first order was from Musicians Friend who warned me it could be 9 months due to factory slowdowns. Even though that order was eventually cancelled, 8 of that 9 month wait may have been due to Rickenbacker not producing guitars? /i]

Just updating the thread since it's been a year.

I looked through my Amazon orders to figure out when I last changed the strings on my 620/12. I normally do it once a year since it's not heavy in my rotation and I tend to pull it out for recording purposes. The jack is being fincky lately.

Turns out, I last bought new 12 strings in 2017. I seem to recall changing them sometime in 2019, but it's been a long time!

I am still around, for whatever that's worth. I haven't abandoned these pages, tho' I still tend to hang out more often over at the other place.. I have a similar issue with the Gretsch Pages, which have been AWOL for quite some time now and as a result I spend my Big Orange time on the "other" G-brand pages...

I truly am no Facebook fan, it bothers me how much information they collect. So I stay here and thanks to a cancer issue, keep a fairly low profile these days.

But like the song says, I'll always be around, and around, and around....
