In August 1974 in Glasgow in the UK I saw Roger McGuinn perform during his "Peace on You Tour." I was very young at the time, just 13 but he was playing a guitar which lit up when he played. Does anyone know anything about the origins of this guitar? I'm pretty sure it was a Ric. Steve (UK)

Roger had a Rickenbacker 371 "Light Show" model.
There are You Tube videos posted of Roger playing the Light Show model ... if I recall, doing Eight Miles High.

I understand those had a problem with overhearing when under the spotlights. That might be an instrument worth bringing back, though. I imagine today you could build it using LED's and get around the overheating issue.
