I have a TR-7, and it is described as having a special "bounce-back" power supply. I do not know exactly what this means, but this may be what BA is describing.

I do know it is very loud for its size. Its a great little solid state amp.

In the Rick Spirit, I picked one of these up today. It looks beat up (the covering) but seems to work fairly well. I do get some very brief spontaneous crackling sounds, sort of like what you hear when turning a bad control. I could not create the noise from any control or cord jack. I unplugged the guitar, and for the minute or so that I listened, I did not hear any crackling sounds. I don't know what's going on with this, with these symptoms. Do you? I was thinking that it might have something to do with the old style, non-grounded two-prong electrical plug; I think it should be converted, anyway. Say, are there any high-voltage capacitors in a solid state amp? ;) No, really....

(The noise reminds me of an old AM radio.)

I will search for a user's manual (as well as a build date).... If I can find a schematic and some helpful how-to advice on the Internet, I might change out the electrical cord (e.g., where to connect/solder the ground wire).

Oh! the most important thing! It does sound really cool. I like it.

What source of information did you use to date it? On this web site, I can see only a way to date guitars (no amp info that I can see)....

The serial number is the same system for year... Mine is has the SN RK(000)7470... (it might also be RX 7470)... Either way the R gives me 1978.

I tried my serial number in the search facility -- reported it as an invalid number....
SN: UV007247

The schematic was easy to find. I searched long and hard for some sort of manual; couldn't find anything. How do the two instrument inputs differ (#1 vs. #2)?

Just take the zeros away... SN is UV 7247. Made in 1981.
