When I'm not calling my 4001 Fireglo "my baby" or simply "The Ric", I call it "Scarlet". :) (I like the idea of it being female)

I have quite a few basses, but only three of them have names; My white Spector is named "Phil" because its a killer, my red sparkle Stingray is named "Dorothy" because it resembles the ruby slippers from Oz, and my 4003 JG is the Dickenbacker, because that is one of the nicknames my bandmates call me. When my 4004Cii MG arrives (hopefully soon) it will most likely be given a name, as it is a fairly rare and exceptionally good-looking bass with great figuring in the maple top & back. I'm thinking I'll call her "Elizabeth", after Elizabeth Banks, another natural blonde beauty.

I don't call it any names except "My Rickenbacker".

I could call it "My One and Only",

or I could call it "Rock-n-Backer" since it has been with me for 4 decades, from Rock to Pop and back to Rock to Today.

Which One?????

Actually, I don't have any names for my Rics, but the drummer I jam with denotes them by color; he will call me and say bring the "black ricky" or the "nat ricky" like that since each of my Ric basses are a different color and model.

I don't have a name for the 4001 I restored in the 90s perhaps "the bass formerly known as the project" would work, but out of all the 7 guits I own, the double bound 24 fret 360/12 is simply known as "The Flagship".

If someone asks me, "What kind of bass is that?", I say, "Ric James, B*tch!" to punish them for their ignorance. Then they usually stare at me, confounded and somewhat angry.
