I've never seen those pictures before. They must have been taken before Brian Epstien had them wear suits instead of leather.

Yes, The Beatles went from leather to suits in 1962. Later that year, John Lennon's '58 Rick 325 went from blonde to black with a new coat of paint.

-These pics from this "transitional" juncture have always fascinated me.

Note yet another "transitional" set of knobs on John's 325.
Frankly, the guys all just look way too clean cut and non-threatening even at this time point to convincingly be wearing those motorcycle leathers. Brando and the "Wild Bunch" guys would have been laughing to tears!

Remember, Lennon's 325 got the black paint job done to it with the Burns knobs added very shortly after the "Love Me Do" sessions. (September, 1962)

-The famous footage (with sound) of them playing in the Cavern with Ringo now replacing Pete doing "Some Other Guy" was filmed and broadcast on Granada TV very shortly after Ringo joined the group and almost immediately after their first formal EMI recording dates. Very shortly after the Granada TV footage was shot, Lennon's Ric got the repaint. Things just seemed to godspeed steam roll for them at this point on.

Yea, to me those knobs always looked out of place on John's 325 because to me they look too small, and the silver doesn't exactly blend in with the gold pick guard. But thats just my opinion.

Ya, I know.

The 'ole Best-a-roni. in these photos almost looks as if he knows he's got one foot on the Liverpudlian skateboard and the other one on a banana peel.

-I always found it totally fascinating how Neil Aspinall was able to straddle and reconcile with the fact that he was Best Best's friend, Pete's mom's boyfriend and also remained until his own death such an unquestionably fiercely staunch and totally loyal friend to the other Beatles.

All these photos, and many more from the early days, can be found in the book "How They Became The Beatles" (A Definitive History Of The Early Years 1960 - 1964) 1989.

An American publication by Gareth L. Pawlowski. Great read and as I said, great photos and pictures of newspaper cuttings, posters etc!
