I've had her since 69-70 she came in rough but very playable condition. I played her hard for ten or so years and had others try to get her. Shes been accused of being a fraud cause shes different. She aint a pretender.All her parts are authentic she is a classic cut out. Shes solid body maple using 8-10 pieces of the most beautiful maple ever seen in matching widths glued together and the classic Ricky shape. 21 frets, short neck,18" fret board and 25" total neck length from tip of head stock to end of fretboard. A single toaster pick-up centered between fret board and bridge. gold pick gaurd now black,some dumb#2#.Black knobs flared bottoms only two and a 3 way toggle.6 strings covered groove type tuners and adjustable bridge. Flat angled type tail piece that hooks to two hooks on butt mounted chrome piece. Her number is C6147 and it is hand stamped. I have had big offers but she plays too sweet, almost by herself. On the treble setting she easily breaks glasses and is so clear it doesn't sound like a guitar-have never heard anything like it. Shes broke down and ready for a new finish, and think I need to look hard for the right one to fix her up. Please help identify this lonely girl. I will send pics of the pieces and the perfect body and wood. Classic walnut strip down the neck and walnut maple pieced headstock. Sorry to be so long.

The parts may be authentic but it sounds like a fake to me.

Hello, I've seen pictures in here, how do you post them? I found one that is close to mine . Combo 850 from 57 the only difference is the single toaster pickup. Same woods everything. Mine was either a part of a jazz band an old timer said there were some early customs in the country music guy's. Mine had a name that had been removed but the color was lighter where the letters had been and in the bright light you could read the name Pepper and the receipt where it was traded said Pepper Martin. He had died and one of his kids trade it for a Fender and paid some besides the trade in. I have a bunch of full resolution pictures but don't know how to post them. People don't pay $4000 for a fake. Would you trade a valuable guitar for one. This guy wanted it bad. I don't think he was smoking anything. The old steel player said he had seen one like like it and two other guy's played different Ricky's. He had a steel Ricky. That's about it as for as known history. The model list doesn't have it listed. If you were going to make a fake wouldn't you choose to give it a real number and duplicate something that existed. If you could get all the parts for the fake why not actually make a real fake.

As far as I know, only a few special people have the ability to post pictures- the Ric employees who post here, Mr. Hall and Jingle Jangle who is the Ric authorized luthier.

Hey Ric and Vox, That is close. My headstock is different and I can't see the type of pickup on that one, mine is a toaster. The closest I have found is a combo 850. It had two pickups, a toaster and a horseshoe. Other than that everything else is the same or very close. It's almost like an in between of the one you linked to and the 850. I will figure out a way to post pictures I have taken. They are high resolution and very detailed of the guitar in its taken apart state. I am missing the original knobs and the stem for the knob on the tone pickup is broken off. I am also missing two screws on the bridge for height adjustment. Shes very old, but the last time I played her she sounded and felt great. I named her Abby after my granddaughter. My Ric is the oldest member of my family- including my wife and all five children. She rests directly under my side of the bed and has since 1969-70. Thank you for not being a jerk. If she was fake someone faked a guitar and serial number that never existed. The only Ric that anyone wanted when I bought her was one like Lennon's. With very little work she could be an exact replica of the combo 850 that is on Tony Blair's website or was. I have a picture of the 850 I will also post when I figure it out.

Sounded like a fake to me - now it looks like one!
Especially how the neck's set into the body, which is made out of several strips. Just don't look right.
