You could say that Pete was the Best of the Beatles.
Ringo is still the coolest Beatle

Pete was the "Best" of The Beatles and Ringo was the "Starr."

Actually Pete Best attempted to capitalize on that phrase wary back in late 1964.

The name of the L.P. was 'The Young Savage Beatles" on the curious "Savage Records" label!

All it was, was another reissue of the Beatles' Hamburg 1961 recordings. -USA copyrights of which seemed to be in a free for all.
-The cover consisted of one of the old early Astrid K. taken Hamburg, Germany photos but, at that point had never been widely published or ever seen in the USA. So, the "leather look" with Best on drums was quite shocking and radical looking.

The flip side of the cover of this curious "Savage Records" L. P. deceptively read "Best Of The Beatles" then underneath ran the song titles.
In west Los Angeles, CA many bought this L.P being visually shocked by the cover and falsely assumed the contents were
"new" or very, very rare never before heard stuff. It was quickly pulled from the market.

"The Savage Young Beatles" released in 1964 and "Best Of The Beatles" released in 1966 on Savage Records are similar in that the albums feature a photo of The Beatles (with Pete) on the cover however the albums contain different recorded material.

"The Savage Young Beatles" cover has a picture of The Beatles (with Pete) from the Albert Marrion photo session. The photo includes John's '58 325 with the Rickenbacker nameplate very visible.

The cover of "Best Of The Beatles" has a picture of The Beatles (with Pete and Stuart Sutcliffe) that was photographed by Astrid Kirchherr at a fairground in Hamburg. Pete's head was highlighted on the cover with a circle around it. John is holding the '58 325 in the photo.

"Best of the Beatles" was also used by PBS-TV:
