I've listed a few reissues I'd like to see, but what I'd really like to see is an updated, modernized 4004Cii. I think it would be great if Ric made one with switchable passive/active electronics, with 2 volumes & 1 tone knob in passive mode, and add in a 3-band EQ & preamp volume when in active mode, while dropping the passive tone control, and lose the pickup selector switch entirely. Keep Ric's wonderful humbuckers in there, and move the rear pickup about 2 inches closer to the bridge. Oh, and I'll take mine in white with gold hardware please.

Lennon surprised a lot of people during those Boston Shows by playing his seldom seen and seldom used 12 banger Ric 325/12 (db 151).

It cosmetically looks nearly identical of course, to his 6 banger 325 Miami (db122).

As a side bar, Lennon also used the elusive 325/12 on the late 1964 recording of "Every Little Thing" and also playing lead! It gives an entirely different sound then does George's Ric 12 banger. -This is only released studio recording (with studio pics) that we know for sure Lennon played this exotic Ric on.

"Words of Love" is a highly suspect song also, but at least so far no studio or photo documentation has turned up to prove this.

AHA! so that's what it was, a 325-12 ehhh? and John playing the lead? I've been scratching my head for decades trying to figure the delicious mid-ranged guitar sound on "Every Little Thing". I knew it was a 12-string, but it just didn't sound like George Harrison, in either guitaristics or his Rickenbacker, the sound is darker, like the sound I get with my 370-12 when in 3rd pickup mode, dark but still "chimey".

Well, thank you very much for that. Now I know. and I didn't know there was such a guitar as a 325-12, never even seen a picture of it, or of John with it, never even seen a picture of the Boston shows. geez, where have I been? Wow. 56 years in wasteland.
(UPDATE: I saw a picture of John Hall holding the 325-12 guitar before it was given to John Lennon).

As to "Words of Love", that sounds more like a double-tracked 6 string Gibson SG with a treble booster to me. But hey, what do I know?

And a question for the experts: (talking about highly suspicious things): John Lennon's recording of "Nobody Told Me They'd Be Days Like These", (that might not be the correct title), sounds suspiciously like The Beatles. Down to the "bombed-out" distorted bass and a very suspicious 12-string electric guitar with even more suspicious "Beatlesish" guitaristics going on throughout the song. Would that have been John Lennon with the 325-12?

Has anybody ever gotten that "that's The Beatles" impression? Everytime I hear the song, my hair sticks up.

Listen to "Woman" on Double Fantasy. Lennon broke that iconic guitar out of storage to use it on these sessions. -Remember 6 banger 325 db 122 "Miami" still had major headstock (and still worsening) problems at this stage and he had already given away his 6 banger Ric RM 1996 to Ringo as a gift years before so for a six string Ric sound, it came full circle and reverted back to V81 "Hamburg!"

Also, getting back to "Every Little Thing." It truly was an out and out Ric field day on this song! Pics taken inside Abbey Road No. 2 show the Beatles recording the edit piece for the instumental bridge.

-For the bridge, Paul was playing John's 6 string Miami in a flipped over mode doing "the call," while John was playing the "answer" on his Ric 325/12. George was busy playing his trusty Gibby 160e miked up for the acoustic mode and of course Big George Martin was playing the Steinway to add some drama to it. Additional pics from this session show Ringo on two drum Ludwig timpany and also another pic curiously showing Lennon with 325 V81 "Hamburg" strapped on!

I suspect what Lennon was doing with V81 strapped on was showing Paul exactly how he wanted Paul to play the "call part" on John's own 325 Miami as a rehearsal before the tape was rolling.
