So, I've picked up this 4001 which has been a bit customised... https://i.imgur.com/97TsxuS.jpg Can anybody tell me what colour that is? I thought it was Azureglo, but it's darker than that; is it Midnight Blue? It's got a slight green/grey tint compared to Royal Blue. Things to do ro revert the customisations:
Replace the Armstrong treble pickup & surround with the originals (which I have). Replace the SD neck pickup with the original (which I have). Replace the Pickguardian pickguard (I have the original, but it had some extra holes for switches, so I have an unmolested '78 one too). Re-wire it, as the previous owner modified it to twin mono (I have the original pots & sockets, but I might leave one push/pull one there for vintage/modern). Put its silver-top knobs back (I have them). Think about swapping the Dipshot machines back for Ric ones (I have a '78 set). Replace the strap buttons with Straplock ones (and put the originals in a box). Replace the bady yellowed TRC. Hopefully the restore will reduce its weight, as right now it is significantly heavier than it should be (the Dipshot bridge plus a metal slug filling the recess under it not least make it tail-heavy!). It'll then be back to where it should be. Sadly, however, I had been looking for a scruffy Jetglo which I wouldn't mind too much if it got knocked about; unfortunately, this one probably isn't going to fulfil that role, so I might be needing to get yet another one! |

(That's funny - the site replaced the brand of the bridge, beginning 'H' with "Dipshot"!) |

The only blue color used in 1978 was Azureglo, so, unless it's been refinished, it's Azureglo. Finish ageing will darken/yellow the clearcoat so that may be why it looks different... |
