Ok so i know you have to send in your truss rod cover to get a new one, but what if i wanted to replace my white and black truss rod cover, with a gold and black truss rod cover, because i am buying a gold pick guard for my 360, and i just don't know how i would go about getting the gold truss rod to match it.

i'm totally going all out on my 360, buying 2 toaster pickups, a vibrola, those big vintage knobs, and a gold pickguard, like those old 365 models, or the capri models, i've always been a huge fan of them.

ahh alright thanks for the reply, i try to search the forums before asing questons like this, but nothing came up. I wonder if anyone knows where to find anyone who makes substitutions of this, like just a gold plastic triangle, haha without the rick logo.

If you want one with the Rickenbacker logo, you could try posting for someone to trade with you either in this forum or the RickResources forum. Or you could bid on one in Ebay.

For a non-logo TRC, you could try someone like Pickguardian.

Forget about Pickguardian. Tony is a stand up guy and will not make TRCs.

I'm no lawyer, but it would seem that the Truss Rod Cover shape ( even without the logo) manufactured for sale by someone other than RIC would be an item of an illegal nature. Your best bet is to check the open market for a genuine RIC TRC to see what is available and proceed from that point.

You are correct; the shape itself is a trademark. There is currently one infringer being dealt with.

If you're arts and craftily inclined, couldn't you simply (and carefully) scrape the white paint from the TRC (if it's the screened type) then spray the color of you choice in it's place?

If it's the raised letter type, this seems it would even easier to do. Just prep and paint, blocking off the raised letters.

I like ricky's idea. I'd practice on something else first. It seems like it would work. I think it'd look cool too.

actually you know what, i've had this sudden change of heart somehow, i'm going to leave it. white on the white pickguard, i think it looks better in white, something just happened and i just didn't want the gold anymore haha, i can't explain it. i think the binding isn't a good contrast for a gold pickguard, and rickenbackers are just amazing as is, and i don't think i want to change it, i think i've just been watching a lot of car shows, and wanted to "pimp" my rickenbacker, haha but i think i'm just going to change the pickups to toasters, and leave the high gains on my 620, cause i really do like how the hi gains sound. So there you have it, i've seen the light and saved hundreds of dollars! haha thanks for everyone that replied to this anyways, i hope someone else can find help from this subject.
