Hi, I have seen a 4001 and 4003 for sale in two different shops in the limited edition colour blue boy. They are the last ones and I will be able to get a good price for both.I don't know much about them, what is the difference between the two models and which one should I get?!Is the 4001 better than the 4003 seeing as it's an older model? Also, is it possible to get either model in cream, even if it was a limited edition? Thanks.

IMO...

All things equal, the 4003 is a better choice. The truss rod system is more straightforward, and age is not a friend of electronics. Also, the price generally commanded for "vintage" instruments makes the 4003 a better deal than a comparable 4001.

Blue Boy was offered as a finish for non-US dealers in 2003, and worldwide in 2004. The 4001 was discontinued in 1986.

Thats what I was thinking, i would be careful if a 4001 is in the color of blue boy, it may have been repainted.:) Hi Kenny good to here from you again. :)

I suspect Digsby was thinking of the much darker finishes of Azureglo and Midnight Blue, rather than the pastel Blue Boy.

Hi, on doing some investigating it can't possibly be a 4001 because no the company didn't make 4001s in blue boy. They are both 4003s. My stupid brother thought one was a 4001!Guess they do look pretty similar.......Thanks people.
