Please add Jonathan Dexter of Divine In Sight to your list.

He uses a Mapleglo 4003S/5--strung E-A-D-G-C instead of with a low B. That way he can massively overplay in the true progressive rock form!

Also, if you think Glover's mods to his Rick are a sacrilege, check out what Dave Meros of Spock's Beard did to his white 4001: 4 Jazz Bass pickups!?!

BTW, the thin body and neck-through maple construction make a Rick growl, even acoustically. While standard Rick pickups accentuate this, Ricks growl and twang no matter the electronics, IMHO. At least my old Jetglo 4001 always did.

Mike Huckabee playing fellow forum member Rick-O-Matics

400C64!!

P.S. Since this thread/list has morphed over time into the most comprehensive list of all famous rick bassists ever assembled in one place (not just 4003 players) does the all-powerful and omnipotent forum moderator have the power to change the title of thethread to reflect this??

Did I mis-read the original post or did he ask specifically about players who use a 4003?

To be honest I love the 4003, it seems to have a nice edge to it, especially when fitted with flatwound strings on it.

I played a 4003 last Sat, which had normal strings on it, and it didn't have much life in it.
(That is my personal opinion).

(Oh yeah, I'm famous on my street, lol).

"Normal" strings? Sorry, is there such a thing? Maybe if it didn't have any life in it you weren't putting much in!

I didnt know this until I watched his "roast" the other nite and it showed a pic of him as a teenager playing a funky white and red 4001, at least that's how it looked.
