I have a 4003 and if my strap is the least bit slippery, I’ll get neck dive with my Ric, but not with my Fender Jazz. There’s definitely a balance issue with the 4003 and it needs a non-slipable strap , so it stays where you position it. The strap I use has an underside of suede leather so it doesn’t slide around.

The lightweight tuners are the best solution, because you can always reinstall the original tuners if you need to.

My 4002 has factory installed mini-Schallers and I do NOT have any neck dive issues at all. I don't know why RIC did not expand using these tuners on the 4001/3 basses, as the mini-Schallers are so superior to the full-sized tuners. Go figure.
