RIC switched from toasters to hi-gains on the basses around '73. Guitars may have been a year or two earlier.

Thanks. That answers my question. Just wondering what year mine was. Now I know it's a '73.

The toaster was still a special order option through the early 4003's.

I bought a re-issue V63 toaster for my '75 4001 from Rickenbacker back in the '90's it tops out at a whooping 11.9k..hard to believe a pick up that old would be that hot but it sounds great
