Dear Mr. Rickenbacker, what are the chances of Rickenbacker reissuing the 4000 bass. Seeing that the 4003s is doing well, why not a 4000?
Does anyone agree with me?

If it is the same as a 4003 but with only the bridge pick up I would be for it. And then I would cut down the pick guard to just cover the control cavity so I could show more of the beautiful wood grain on the maple glow or fire glow.

I have a 4003 and I have found myself using the bridge pick up mostly because it has a nice fundamental tone. The use of the bridge pick up alone or with it has more harmonics and less Pure fundamental and a more muddy sound.

So I think all I would really need is the bridge pick up like on a 4003. Then you would only need a tiny control cavity cover so you could have no pick guard and can show off the nice wood on the face of the instrument rather than covering it with the pick guard.

Yeah! Pretty nice! And if you got a 4003 you can regret later and reverse. Pretty good idea!

If you have a pickup-less pickguard made and slap it on a 4003s, you essentially have a 4000.

Why not just buy a 4000? There's plenty of them out there.

Use a stereo plug and plug it into the Ric-O-Sound jack, and use only the lead for the bridge pickup. This isolates the bridge circuit. If your bass has the .0047 inline capacitor to the bridge pickup, jumper it. If it has the push-pull, then use the bypass side.

Then you have a the essence of a 4000, even eliminating the load that the neck pickup will put on the circuit.
