Post subject:  Newbie and 4003 purchase

Hi everyone, just posting for the first time as a member of this forum, but more importantly, tomorrow I will be collecting my first ever Rickenbacker a 2000 4003 in Mapleglo (left handed, hence the username). Obviously I'm VERYexcited and whilst I don't have any doubts about the authenticity of the bass, does anyone know if RIC would be able to verify the model from the serial number.
I am looking forward to a long and happy relationship with the forum and obviously the 4003 (especially now the horrid black nylon wound strings have been replaced with Rotosound RS66, with apologies to any Macca fans!)
Thanks in anticipation
Steve

Hey Lefty Steve, how are you doing with your south paw 4003? Post a pic of that one if you get a chance. I use D'Addario ETB92 Nylons on my 4003 Ruby. They have a nice tone for my playing.
What amp are you running your 4003 through?

Hi Mr nylon, sorry for late response due to working away from home. I'll get pics on as soon as I'm home. I love the Ric its been a dream ever since hearing Chris Squire and Geddy back in the 70s. The bass is a monster, I'm playing it through an Ashdown ABM 500 evo 2 and it sounds massive. I'm toying with the idea of experimenting with rick o sound, have you tried it.
Thanks for the response
Steve
