Nice! It would only be better if it had CB inside that black binding... Attachment:

That's a "one-off" bass that was on eBay a while back if I recall correctly. The body wings are supposed to be from a 4002 batch--which makes me sad that they didn't end up actually becoming part of a 4002.

Well, find me some appropriate Ebony for the fingerboard, a laminated pickguard, and some of those very special bifilar-wound pickups and we'll put it all together with one of the remaining bodies.

Now, I thought I remembered hearing that there were a couple of those pickups in a drawer somewhere at the factory. But my memory ain't what it used to be, so... 'Course, we know where the last ebony fingerboard ended up (which is just fine IMHO). But, even lacking the exact proper parts, if one of those bodies happened to get put together with HB-1's in the 4002 positions and had a Caribbean Rosewood fingerboard, well, I'd likely be in trouble with my wife... again...

You appoint me to a special search committee and I'm on it! As long as I get to sample the resulting bass of course. I have one of those special pickups thanks to another forum member and I actually got to record with it. They sure had a great, wide-open tone.
