What a journey of discovery!

What a revelation in tone!

What a dent in my bank account!

Some of you may have seen pics of my Fireglo 660/6 and Mapleglo 350V63 before, but the 350V63 in Montezuma Brown will be a new addition to my little collection.

Miss September:

Miss October:

Miss November:

I have just done the deal for Miss November, after the money gets to the dealer, he will ship.

The other two are rapidly becoming my main stage guitars.

3 Ricks in 3 months, and to tell the truth it was nearly 4 Ricks, but I came to my senses.

Or did I?

Cheers, Kez

Kez- The GLARING OMISSION from your list is a Rickenbacker 12-string! I have three (had five). You never outgrow your need for Ricks! -Dr.Phil

Hi Doc,

After 35 years of playing guitar I am still a six string only kind of guy. Why is that?

I guess primarily because I am a dedicated lead guitar player, for me 12 strings are beautiful and lush sounding in chord passages but don't lend themselves to massive bends and other assorted lead guitar gymnastics, especially on the already narrow fretboard of most Ricks.

Think of the 3 'Kings' of the Blues (mainly Albert) crossed with Hendrix, SRV, Garry Moore, Ritchie Blackmore, Angus Young, Santana, Paul Kossof, Mick Ralphs, etc. these are my main influences, not exactly 12 string territory... ;-)

Lug around a double neck? No Thanks.

Mind you a 660/12 might be a different proposition.

That extra wide board would be much better, still it would limit the usual way I play, which in itself is maybe not totally bad because it forces you to do something different, mmhhh...

Food for thought.

Cheers, Kez

I wish I could find the magic formula to change our Aussie kangaroo dollars to high octane US dollars!

Oh, and thanks to the Board Moderator Man for putting links to the pics!

Cheers, Kez

Hi Kez,

John Mayall used to use a RIC 620/12 (I believe) for blues slide work. He had it all painted up flower power but it worked well for blues, albeit not lead but rythmn.

Best,

MMM

OK!

The Montezuma Brown 350v63 is on it's way from the USA to me and will be in my hands in a couple of days...

The hardest part is tracking them down...

A Rick is relatively cheap compared to most of the Gibson guitars I have bought over the years. I have a good day gig as a high school teacher and I don't have a wife and kids which helps in the bank account dept.

It also helps to be a little driven...

Cheers, Kez
