I have one of the early production Carl Wilson 12 string guitars in fireglo. I love the weight of this guitar and it sounds so sweet through my Vox AC30. Was this a popular guitar that Rickenbacker made, because I don't seem to read or hear too much about this model?

I don't have any records, but I would think the Carl Wilson signature models are few and far between. It seems there wasn't much publicity on this series. And welcome to the forum.

Thank you for welcoming me. I was on this forum a few years ago and got off the beaten track. I own about 7 Rickenbackers in my collection and I wouldn't part with any of them. What a beautiful intrument they are and the quality that goes into them is amazing. It is worth the wait for one. I'm thinking about the 360c63/12 in the future. I'm also interested in the 420 in fireglo.

Hi MCchick, You can look up some facts in the News section here on the forum. The CW was a limited run for sure and, having once owned one, I know they are a great little guitar with a really special sound. Try this: http://www.rickenbacker.com/news_item.a ... 5&news=oldThey do pop up on E-Bay occasionally and Willie's Guitars in Minneapolis just sold a beautiful CW/12 last month. There are a few at Ed Roman's but they are hard to find and great to play. Good to hear you're enjoying it. MMM

MMM First post to the forum. I'm the proud owner of the Carl Wilson 12-string sold by Willie's. Since it's my first Ric, I can only compare to a brief test playing of a standard 360 at Sam Ash a couple of years ago, but I think the biggest difference is the thinner body top. The acoustics of the guitar are such that it makes quite a nice sound even playing without an amp. Also, the wood has a significant "figuring". I'm delighted with it so far. Although there is an "investment" aspect to it, I don't plan to leave it sitting in the case. I'll just make sure to wash my hands before playing and never wear a belt. I noted there were a 12-string and a 6-string from a single seller on Ebay within the last couple of weeks.

I managed to get hold of an unplayed Carl Wilson 12 string in 2007. I think it is one of the best looking and superb sounding series that Rickenbacker has ever made. What makes it even more special for me is that the certificate number is 409. How's that for a Beach Boys connection!
