Anyone out there know the specs on the 350v63 pickups? It's from the late 90's. Are they down in the 7's or up around 9-10?

I've heard of people taking wraps off of P/U's until the impedence is close to 7.4. Do you know if this works? Thanks for all the help so far. Is there a website or resource that would have the different models and their relative P/U impedence?

You're speaking of the DC resistance, not the impedance. Also, you're talking K ohms here.

There's no chart that will help you as many changes have been made over the years. An ohmeter is your friend.

A new 350V63 would have the 7.4K ohm pickups.

We think this pickup unwinding deal is great- we get to sell so many of them to people who don't know what they're doing and end up destroying their pickups.

Unfortunately, programs like these won't help you much.

First, even if you know the theoretical length of wire needed, you need a program that can tracking the size of the coil which is expanding as it's wound. Second, you have to make some consideration for how tightly the coil is wound as it affects the first item I just mentioned- but especially ties in to the third, most important factor. This size wire is incredibly easy to stretch which directly affects the DC resistance. Few people have the machines like we do that can track the winding tension, in grams using computer control, which controls stretch.

The point is that this is very much a trial and error process or at least one that needs to be refined with experience. I'm not saying don't use a program, just that the results may vary significantly.

What is the difference in sound in a 350v63 w/the
12+k ohms vintage style toaster p/ups and the more recent 7.4k ohms vin/toaster/p/ups in a 350v63?
Mine is a 1999 350/V63 w/what I assume to be the 12+k ohms toasters.
