I had a malfunctioning Tu-Boss 80 tuner and was not receiving the results I wanted. Went to a Peterson Strobe clip tuner it is great. My 360/6 and Gretsch 6122-1962 never sounded better. Has anyone out here use the Peterson Strobe tuner? Chime in and tell us your experience. Thanks.

I hear good things, but I've never even seen one in person. I use the Boss tuner, and a handheld Korg. I don't get the "this tuner improves my tone" I keep hearing about it, because Rickenbacker tone doesn't change if it's out of tune...

I don't know anything about the clip version but we use Petersons in our set-up department and I use one on stage with my bass. They seem to work quite well. I've had to resolder my floor unit back together since the jacks are PCB mounted, as well as mechanically mounted to the metal case; this seems to stress the soldering of the jacks to the board. I re-engineered this area a bit and have no further problems. In the shop, the units are plastic but stay on the bench and have had no issues.

When I researched the Peterson some of the complaints were that the clip is plastic and kept on breaking. But so far it seems to be ok. I don't know if these others abused the tuner. I am quite pleased with it. Keep rocking man.

This was the 2nd Boss I went through with the same results. No matter it's all good now. I am sold on the Peterson.

OK, it's not a Peterson, and it's not a strobe tuner, but for a clip-on, I've been quite impressed with the Snark SN-1.
And for about $10, it hard to go wrong...

I use a Stroboflip, usually sitting on top of my amp. It took a while at first to get used to the accuracy of this tuner (at least, it's display); my only real complaint is that sometimes it takes a while for it to lock onto my E and B strings, regardless of which bass I am using.

I've had the Korg for even longer. If it ever breaks, I may look into a Peterson. Boss Pedals are built pretty well, though...

I also have a little Snark; it works fine on my acoustic stuff (banjo and mandolin), aa well as my hollow body guitar and basses. Doesn't seem to like any solid body stuff, though. I went to the Peterson dealer here in Vegas (Sam Ash) a couple of weeks ago when my old English tuner died; they were out of the Clip models, so I got a Stroboflip instead. Seems very nice so far, but it's kind of overkill if you're not a professional tech - for an orchestra!
