They should make all the twelve string models with the wider neck(eg.660/12- 1993Plus), and have one twelve string model available for the very few guys who still prefer the "old school" thin-narrow neck. And as far as a narrower neck and closely spaced strings making a difference in sound, you have to be kidding. I"d bet the house you could not hear-tell the difference in the sound!! |

I'm sure RIC is not going to drastically modify their entire bread-and-butter instrument line for a handful of old guys with fat fingers. You're definitely not in any majority. My problem is that without a longer string scale, the wider fingerboard alone doesn't provide enough real estate to make much of difference. A wider neck with, say, a 25-1/2 inch scale and jumbo frets would make a nice 6-string for blues playing and soloing. But it's much easier to get around on a small neck 12-string for chording. Rickenbacker made their necks thinner to play faster, not to cut costs. As far as a difference in sound, you can't compare an acoustic guitar to an electric. It's apples and oranges. And the Ricks with wider necks sound exactly the same as their more popular models. |

I beleive us "fat finger old guys" are in the majority, and it would only be financially beneficial to Rickenbacker to make all the 12 string models with the wider neck. They can always keep one 12 string model available for guys like yourself who have a small-femanine hand! |

Most of the "fat finger" syndrome can be remedied by cutting fingernails properly, keeping the thumb in the back of the neck, using the proper "C" technique with the fingers, and fretting with the spot near the tips of the fingers that is below the fingernail, but above the center of the fingerprint. |

Usually electric guitars have a neck width of slightly under 1.7 inches, the acoustic guitar standard is 1.72 inches while the standard classical guitar is 2 inches. |

If you have a nut width of 43mm say, it might be more like 53mm by the time you get to the 12th fret. |
