I agree regarding the machine heads.Let's get as close as we can to originality and those heads need to go.They are new as I know my uncle fitted them just before his passing. They are also good quality but they're decent and as yet unused.Maybe we could flog them on eBay to generate part of the funding of some nice period( if we can find them)Rickenbacker ones on.Nice as they are they don't cut it.

I'm missing her terribly now though and Can't wait to play her. These things take time and the best things come to those who wait, that's what I keep telling the wife in any case.Lol

I really appreciate all the advice on here and there's plenty of it.How's the neck looking these days Vic?

The neck has more or less gone back to how it was! I still have the truss-rods completely slackened off. As John mentioned, the neck will pull straight under string tension. You get approx. 65kg pull-back tension the opposite way and then, you tighten the truss rod 'til the neck becomes playable (straight).

I'm not concerned about the neck now I've been given advice/information here. I will build a jig to hold it straight/level for re-fretting and it will be clamped solid once I've radius-sanded the fretboard! And, of course, I will be video-documenting everything! We're going to put new vintage Kluson chrome tuners on as they fit the period of the guitar! They cost about £50.

This site is a God-send ;)

Unfortunately, they don't have all the parts I need but they are less expensive than where I normally go. Thanks...

I have a 360V64 reissue that needs new tuners. I'm considering these, which are an identical replacement. However, the tolerances are much better than the original, and they hold tune better.

That's a great price and I have an account with Stewmac but the owner wants original or authentic! So, they have to be Kluson or Rickenbacker tuners! I'd go for these myself! I mean, who will know and they look exactly the same as the originals and will be great...

OK! What fret wire should I use on this guitar? Also, who sells vintage 300k CTS pots? Should I go with Kluson/Grover/Rickenbacker vintage chrome tuners?

Is this any good?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Medium-Highes ... 23522439b5

I'd like the highest medium wire possible and this is 18% nickel/silver...

Width: 2.03mm (0.080")
Crown: 1.27mm (0.050")
Tang Length: 1.22mm (0.048")

Vic,

I've read that the closest match to the original is Stew-Mac #148 which is a medium/medium.

#155 (as per your link)
