My wife got me into Panic at the Disco last year, and their original guitarist, Ryan Ross, was responsible for the more Beatles/Beach Boys direction of their second album, Pretty Odd. Their debut was already pretty baroque and different for the Fueled by Ramen label, but they really flew under the radar with their sophomore effort. I mean, I wrote them off as another Fall Out Boy/Blink 182/Green Day styled band, but they're definitely not.
Ryan Ross left and started this band, The Young Veins, and you clearly see and hear a Rickenbacker 330/12 in this video. Sounds like the 60's!

That does sounds really good, I listened to a bit of PATD and thought it was great for a couple albums. I guess that is why!
