I am new to the Forum and need some help.

I need to replace the battery connector on my 1988 370/12RM and not sure of the type I need. The current connector corroded from the battery. Need to know two items:

1. Is the battery connector a solid plastic or the vinyl type head?
2. Were the soldered connections wrapped with electrical tape or heat shrink tubing for insulation?

Asking because I am not sure the existing connector is original. I am the second owner.
