I assume the guitar and bass bodies-(woodwork, necks, binding) and the (knobs, frets and machine heads etc) are manufactured in CA/USA? I would like to know if the pickups and associated electrical parts are also manufactured here in the USA or are they outsourced and made overseas with final assembly in the California facility?

We produce our own pickups here in the US, and most of the electronic components are US as well. There's a few parts, like capacitors, that apparently aren't made in the USA anymore that we reluctantly buy from Asia.

The machine heads mostly come from Schaller in Germany, with a few from Gotoh in Japan.

Some of the very highly figured wood comes from Canada, though the bulk of our Maple is from Michigan.

How about the new Caribbean rosewood (which looks fantastic in my opinion)?

Comes from Central America but we're careful to buy from American owned firms.

Oh yes, because if you dont buy with American interests (which I can understand to a point) or contribute to his Highness's campaign-the company can be harassed or get raided just like they did to another "long standing" American company. Absolutely disgraceful! You would think they could spend their time going after hard line criminals instead of a reputable guitar builder!

If you're talking about Gibson, then you're talking about a company that deserved what it got when it imported Madagascar ebony illegally. The law violated had nothing to do with whether or not it was sourced in the USA (ebony's not grown here), it had to do with laws broken involving importation of endangered species, and Madagascar ebony is well known to be one of them. The right wing source you probably read about that from undoubtedly failed to mention that laws were broken, and that it had nothing to do with "Big Brother" wanting to hurt Gibson. Not only does RIC source most of their supplies domestically, but it wants no part in using black market sources involved in the decimation of endangered species. This is why they don't build guitars with ebony fingerboards or the original style crushed shell inlays anymore.

Probably never. This isn't the Rickenbacker Resource Forum where posts get edited or deleted based on the thin skins of a few.

You're joking, right? Posts here are regularly edited and/or deleted (including one of my own here) based on content. This is the *corporate* forum - it's way more administrated than the other one, and rightfully so, as the folks at RIC do need to watch their own forum moreso than a public one. Of course, RIC is on summer vacation until next Monday, so if it is administrated, it won't be until then.

Check out the forum rules:

>>While using our forums, please refrain from making denigrating comments about other forums users, other companies, authorized RIC dealers, and RIC.

>>This is a corporate owned forum; as such, certain controversial or provocative topics that might be acceptable elsewhere are simply not appropriate here.
