It was a bakelite Hawaiian steel guitar along with a small amp that had "mother-of-toilet-seat" covering and a flocked palm tree scene on the grille. I still have the guitar but for the life of me, I can't figure where the amp went to. I thought it was in the closet when I went away to school so maybe my mother disposed of it!
Actually, all the guitars in the so-called museum here are part of my personal collection, and are only on loan to the company and various other museums. It total it's probably about 300 guitars but honestly I really don't spend any time dealing with them or collecting new ones- it's just a matter of keeping what I have for posterity.

If you come to the "So.Cal.Confluence" next weekend John, I'll gladly help you carry some of thse 300 in to the hotel.

Dude, it's not just 300 guitars, it's WHAT the 300 guitars ARE!! (some pretty historical, one of a kind, very expensive 300 guitars!!) Hey, here's an idea, how about pictures of the collection in the gallery? That'd be cool!

John, what are the rarest pieces in your collection? An old '30s upright "pipe" bass, a LS "lightshow" or what?

That's one collection I'd love to see someday.... The pictures I've seen of "the Wall" have always intrigued me. Any chance of ever opening that up for public viewing? Of course, that would create a whole new set of problems due to Ric-o-philes who just would not be able to control themselves in such a setting, LOL!
