Anyone know what happened? I clicked on my usual link and got directed to a page telling me I could reigster the domain name...

This happened a few weeks back and was supposedly fixed. Back at that time, I saw the same page come up and it was fixed pretty quick -- an email did go out from VT to all of the membership mentioning a domain transfer to Tucows that same day and that there might be some trouble accessing the board. Beatlesgear is still active, and Nick has it hosted on the same server.

From what I understand, the domain registration was going to expire. Rather than renew with Network Solutions (the original registrar), Nick decided to renew with Tucows (a Canadian registrar). Somehow, the transfer to the new registrar got mucked up, and Network Solutions still has control of the name even though Tucows should be handling it. Since Network Solutions hasn't received money for a renewal (because the money went to Tucows) they're showing it as being expired.

That's everything I heard. I can't vouch for accuracy, but considering the fact that Beatlesgear is still active, it sure seems a likely scenario.

What Kevin said, well sort of. VT was originally registered with Network Solutions years ago, even though they have been paid, they want to control the domain for first 90 days and won't allow the transfer over to tucows.com until then. Because of an automation clitch in their system, this may be a problem every 3 weeks until the transfer is complete.

Nice.

Good times, lol.

That's pretty rough. Network Solutions/Verisign makes another friend!

Is there any other forum (besides Ric) that we can chat with Voxtalks members?
I want to get in touch with Paul (DVD maker)and I lost his email info.

Well, I was able to get in for a short time this evening and I even posted a message. Now it's back to the Network Solutions page.

Grrr.

You are, perhaps, expecting Nick to have proper spelling and punctuation?
